I'm a qualified coach - Diploma in Personal Coaching (2005) - and a Member of the Association for Coaching.
I established my career coaching practice in Hitchin in 2005 and since then I've coached hundreds of clients. I coach on personal goals where my clients come to me about their careers or relationships where they want to discuss choices, create changes, and often change their own behaviour and mindset.
I've had three strands to my career, all with the common theme of trying to make a positive difference. First as a teacher of English to A-level and, after several years in schools, I moved into teaching adults and added qualifications in dyslexia.
When I was assessing my own career, I decided to train as a coach. Through coaching, I'm able to make a difference in a broader way beyond gaining qualifications. I love what I do, supporting my clients with change.
I'm a published writer of two self-help books for parents and students. For 15 years I wrote features for The Times, Guardian, Telegraph and i newspapers on careers, family and wellbeing. I've also been a volunteer on several national helplines.
Mindful of my own work-life balance, I now focus on coaching and feel privileged to work with my clients.
Outside of work I love walking over the hills close to my home, or further afield in my native North, reading, and spending time with my adult children who've finished university and are now living independently.

I want the best for you. I don't tell you what to do or make choices for you. Coaching is a series of conversations where we work together with clear boundaries and a structure. You're in control but I'm by your side. I use professional coaching techniques including exercises to bring clarity and momentum. What I ask of you is commitment, enthusiasm, open-mindedness.
I'm here to keep you on track, to pick you up if you're finding your journey hard and to ensure you reach your destination.
